It is The Charmm’d Foundation’s great pleasure to honor Debi
Pomerantz and Shana Hayes as the co-recipients of our
Foundation’s 2nd annual Exemplary Partner Recognition Award.
This has been specially created to acknowledge professionals in the
field of Social/Emotional and Character Development (SECD) and/or
community members who have provided invaluable assistance to our
Foundation. Debi and Shana are members of our advisory board who
have consistently provided thought provoking advice, stimulating
diverse viewpoints and respectful communication. They have been
caring and professional in their assistance sharing high quality and
timely responses to our inquiries, and passion in helping to guide us
along our journey.
Pomerantz and Shana Hayes as the co-recipients of our

Together, the recipients will direct a $1,000 grant, given by our
foundation in their honor, to be used in one of the following options;
either going to a nonprofit of their choosing or in the purchasing of
Social/Emotional and Character Development products to be then
distributed to our initiative’s adult participants to help support our
mission:

Debi Pomerantz is a caring community member in the shoreline north of Chicago, having lived in and raised a family
in Highland Park for over 20 years. Being a parent and businesswoman, she has run a home-based corporate gifts
operation for 25 years, Debi brings these unique sets of perspectives to our foundation which has proven invaluable.
She is an active volunteer in many of our foundation’s activities always providing us with a great grasp of the community’
s needs. She is well respected by all and models the key character traits of honesty and commitment in how she
approaches life each and every day.

Shana Hayes is the Vice President of External Affairs for Kohl Children’s Museum. Shana joined Kohl Children’s
Museum in March 2003 and holds a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. For more than 20 years,
Shana has worked in corporate sponsorship, event planning, fundraising, and marketing projects for leading area
cultural institutions including the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, Lookingglass Theatre Company, and Ravinia Festival.
Among her many accomplishments for the Museum, Shana was responsible for raising $23.4 million to build and open
the Museum’s new facility in Glenview and for the development and oversight of related marketing and public relations
campaigns to tout the Museum as the Chicago area’s leading resource for children, families and educators. Shana
provides direction, leadership, and support to a staff of development, guest services, and marketing professionals that
manage the Museum’s nearly $5 million annual operating budget Shana Hayesand ensure the Museum’s continued
fiscal vitality. Her civic and professional activities include active participation at the Foundation for Peripheral
Neuropathy, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Orphans of the Storm and The Charmm’d Foundation. Shana and
her husband Greg live in Deerfield and are the loving parents of their sons Renny and Jamie.
