In the Schools...

By engaging in collaboration and building quality relationships with school
staff members and subject matter experts, opportunities are provided for
self-awareness and high quality learning of positive social skills.

We offer a variety of educational resources so each community can
succeed at their own grassroots effort. Learning happens through
ongoing assessments, skill building professional development workshops,
leadership institutes, peer level discussion groups, steering committee
meetings and ongoing coaching and facilitation
.

Beginning with the school principal, a steering committee is selected to
champion this multi-year initiative.Through workshops, coaching,
collaboration with other schools, site visits and conferences, we provide
the framework and opportunity for each school to thoughtfully and
intentionally create a plan and work it. Coaches skilled in SEL and
facilitation give guidance and support.
In the Community...

We encourage each community to create its own participation,
ownership, and accountability.

In doing this, we actively get to know the community and its adult
members. We find people and groups who are already working
toward this  – including some local school staff who are already
working on this in their own schools. We also identify others who are
interested in making this happen, get them around the table, get a
seat at the table ourselves, listen to their needs and wants then
support them as they thoughtfully and intentionally create their own
plan and work it.

We offer support by providing a framework and connecting the
experts to the community members, then helping to arrange, and if
necessary, facilitate meetings and provide access to useful
information, resources and professional development opportunities.
Intentionally bettering the community in which we live, work and play is certainly not an easy task!

First of all, people in the community need to
want something more or better than what they currently have. Then, a few people need to step up and
be leaders for the change.  It is this courageous leadership combined with a hard-working Steering Committee that a plan of action is formed.

The
Charmm'd Foundation sponsors these initiatives through recognizing that all communities are unique and each action plan is personalized by
each group to best serve their needs. The process is on-going and well worth the effort!

Take a look at what is going on in our participating Schools as well as in the Communities themselves.

Change is brewing!
“We are pleased to endorse the work of The Charmm’d Foundation in
providing Character Education and Social Emotional Learning
training and resources to selected high schools in the Lake County
area. This effort is thoroughly researched, and it is funded at a level
that will allow for implementation.

The programs provided through The
Charmm’d Foundation will offer
substantial support to all concerned in meeting these challenges.”

- Roycealee J. Wood, Lake County Regional Superintendent

of Schools
“I truly count The Charmm'd Foundation as one the greatest gifts
the residents of Zion and Benton Townships have received.

Having this organization assist us in creating a foundation where
we can indeed work together differently where we respect each
other, acknowledging that having different views is a strength we
can build on, is key to what we know will enhance our community
in ways we never even dreamed of.”

- Cheri Ditzig, Zion Township Supervisor
Working with this framework and celebrating each step of the
way are essential for long-term sustainability. The path you
take with them is up to you.
As an on-going process, and as time goes on, more adults in the
school and the larger community will become aware of the initiative,
thus creating a wonderful ripple effect!
