CHARMM'D BOARD VICE PRESIDENT

Marie Burgquist LinkedIn

"I have both learned from other leaders and helped strengthen other leaders within the Charmm'd community by sharing feedback, ideas and experiences.  This learning and strengthening has happened at both the Board level where we strive to make Charmm’d the best organization that it can be, as well as at the community level where I have had the opportunity to meet several outstanding individuals at the Charmm’d events."

LAKEFRONT GENERAL MANAGER, WILMETTE PARK DISTRICT

CHARMM'D BOARD SECRETARY

CHARMM'D LEADERSHIP ACADEMY CO-FACILITATOR

“The Charmm’d Foundation provides an environment where current and emerging leaders can grow and learn. The concept is amazingly simple, but rarely accomplished. Take leaders from different organizations, give them access to education, inspiring speakers, and dedicated mentors. Organize them in groups where they can learn and support each other. Sit back and watch them grow into a community of self-aware leaders who have the tools and support network to realize the potential we all knew they had.  I am grateful and honored to serve on the Board of Directors of such dedicated organization.“

"Charmm'd has been a tool that has grown and transformed with me as I have changed roles and faced new challenges. The team and the peers your work along with are a group of extremely qualified and intelligent people. The answer is always in the room when you are surrounded by such talent. The variety of resources and opportunities to connect and grow are incredible. I am impressed with how Charmm'd continues to evolve with the changing needs of the individual and our society as a whole. I especially enjoy the non-profit groups that allow leaders to connect about the real world issues that these organizations face that are unique to the non-profit sector."

"The Charmm’d Foundation is a unique and special organization. I have had the ultimate privilege of engaging with Charmm’d the past few years, first as a non-profit executive who has nominated staff members at my organization to participate in the Leadership Academy, next as a mentor for a Peer Advisory Group, and now as an Advisory Board Member and Peer Advisory Group Co-Facilitator. I find that the Charmm’d staff and volunteers strive for excellence at all times, in every interaction, and have a strong desire to develop and learn from and with all participants. I am honored to represent Charmm’d and I feel empowered as a leader in my own organization and with Charmm’d interactions because of the genuine, authentic engagement I have had with every leader and leadership experience at Charmm’d. I am grateful to be able to provide support and guidance to Charmm’d program participants in giving back to make a positive impact on the Charmm’d community, and to continue my own personal and professional journey of growth and learning."

MARCOS LEVY

FACILITIES MANAGER, WILMETTE PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT

CHARMM'D LEADERSHIP ACADEMY CO-FACILITATOR & MENTOR

"During my tenure at the Lake Forest Library, a Director offered the opportunity for managers to attend a Charmm’d seminar. This experience invigorated my desire to be more effective as a leader. I believe that the bottom line in leadership is not limited to how far I advance, but at the heart is how far I advance others. This is achieved by serving others, viewing them as whole individuals and tapping into their skills leading to value for themselves as well as the organization. In 2018, I accepted a new manager position with a diverse team of individuals that has broadened my leadership dynamic through various challenges such as conflict resolution, team building and problem-solving. Charmm’d has been a vital part of my success through participation in the Peer Advisory Group and sessions in the Leadership Academy. The team at Charmm’d is ready to take you on a journey to more successful leadership that others will want to follow."

"While I had to take an emergency leave out of the country, I came back to work with messages from The Charmm'd team reaching out to me about a leadership program I had been signed up for by my former supervisor and had no idea about it. I remember going to the first meeting and being intimidated - not really knowing what I had been signed up for. Half a year later, it is easily one of the most amazing things anyone could have done for me and I am incredibly grateful for it. Since joining the organization, I have learned so much and have been able to apply what I have learned to my everyday life, both professionally and personally. I have never felt more comfortable approaching others, having difficult conversations in the workplace (and personal life), understanding different personality types, and how to work with others. My experience with Charmm’d has been truly remarkable and the people I have met have been nothing but wonderful. I am excited to continue to develop and grow my leadership skills with Charmm’d!"
